Fear of Writing.

Just a thought today:

'Fear of writing is like when you're fresh in love, and every time you see that person, you freeze. Not because you don't have anything to say, but because you want your words to be deep and meaningful.
So instead you stand there and choke, or - if you see them coming - duck behind a postbox.'

How do you deal with fear?

  3. oops, hit send too fast...regarding your actual post now (smile)...that's why we can write about pain so easily but writing when we are happy seems strange...count your blessings, document your gratitude, show us your day in pictures...many ways to write without writing...

  4. An excellent question, K.C. Typically, I busy myself, and that's the honest truth.

  5. Even the postboxes are cuter in London. :)

And, um, hide from writing? Afraid to put down words because they're not good enough? Yeah, I did that most of the summer.

  6. Delores: works every time. ;-)

EcoGrrl: I swear I read 'fire hydras' first. :-)
    Thanks for your comment!

Suze: busy yourself with writing, you mean?

L.G.: and perfect to hide behind. :-) I'll be in London for work tomorrow, so if I have time I'll snap a few more shots. :-)
Maybe the things we want to hide from are those that mean most to us because they reflect so much of who we are and what we want from life? Still out on that one ...

  10. What a cool writer's name: K.C. Woolf.

As far as fear of writing is concerned, this is why I read Anne Lamott. She always, always gets me going.
